Ethics Statement

Editorial Independence
Nutn News operates with full editorial independence. Our coverage decisions are made exclusively by our editorial team based on newsworthiness, public interest, and journalistic merit. Advertisers, sponsors, investors, and commercial partners have no influence over story selection, editorial framing, or publication decisions. A commercial relationship with any entity does not confer positive coverage, nor does its absence invite negative coverage.
Funding & Ownership Transparency
Nutn News is an independently owned publication. We are funded through a combination of advertising revenue, reader support, and licensing. We do not accept funding from political parties, government bodies, or entities with a direct stake in our coverage areas without full public disclosure. Any significant funding relationships that could create a perception of conflict will be disclosed prominently in our coverage.
Sourcing Standards
We prefer named sources who speak on the record. Anonymous sourcing is used only when:
- The source would face credible professional or personal harm if named.
- The information is of significant public interest that cannot be obtained otherwise.
- Editorial leadership has approved the use of an anonymous source.
- We have made reasonable efforts to corroborate the information independently.
When anonymous sourcing is used, we describe the source in enough detail to convey their credibility and basis of knowledge (e.g., “a senior official with direct knowledge of the negotiations”). We do not publish unverified allegations solely on the basis of a single anonymous source.
Fact-Checking & Corrections Policy
Accuracy is fundamental to our journalism. Before publication, factual claims are verified against primary sources, official records, or multiple independent sources where possible.
When we make a factual error:
- We correct it promptly and transparently.
- Corrections are appended to the original article with a clear correction notice indicating what was changed and when.
- We do not silently alter articles after publication without a correction notice.
- Significant errors are also disclosed in a prominent correction notice or follow-up article.
To report an error, contact us at [email protected].
Conflict of Interest Policy
Staff journalists and contributors are required to disclose any financial interests, personal relationships, or affiliations that could create a real or perceived conflict with their reporting responsibilities. Journalists recuse themselves from covering entities in which they have a material personal or financial interest.
We do not accept gifts, free trips, or other inducements from sources or organizations we cover. If a journalist participates in a press trip or event funded by a third party, this will be disclosed in the resulting coverage.
Diversity & Inclusion
Nutn News is committed to reflecting the diversity of the communities we serve in our coverage, our sourcing, and our team. We actively seek out perspectives that are underrepresented in mainstream media and hold ourselves accountable to diverse representation in expert sourcing, bylines, and editorial leadership.
Relationship with Readers
We welcome feedback, tips, and story ideas from our readers. Reader tips are evaluated on their merits and do not guarantee coverage. Sources who provide information are entitled to know the general purpose of the article being researched, though we are not obligated to share our full editorial approach in advance.
For tips and story leads, contact us at [email protected].
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Nutn News may use AI-assisted tools in certain parts of our editorial workflow, including research assistance, summarization of public documents, and content formatting. We do not publish AI-generated articles without substantive human editorial review and verification.
Any article that has been substantively assisted by AI tools beyond basic spell-checking or grammar assistance will carry a disclosure. AI tools are used to augment — not replace — human journalism. All published reporting remains the editorial responsibility of named human journalists.
Editorial Complaints
If you believe our reporting falls below the standards described in this Ethics Statement, we want to hear from you. Contact our editorial team at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint within five business days and investigate it in good faith.
